Health and Wellness professionals need to have not only knowledge but an enriched life of psychological, spiritual, and physical. It is very difficult for a health and wellness professional to be entrusted by their client if they do not practice the activities as well. Psychologically, I need to work more towards knowing myself and my mind. I need to continue to work on mind control and staying focused. Spiritually, well I need to completely find my spiritual side. I have started to let “life” take over my heart and I need the spiritual side of me come out more. Physically, I think I am on the right path here. There is always work to be done, so I really need to get on a more regular exercise program.
My goal for my psychological wellness is to work on more practices such as loving/kindness and yoga. I need to connect my lifestyle with my mental health. There really needs to be “me” time in my life…on a daily basis. The long term goal here is to give myself 30 minutes a day for me to work on my mental health. My 30 minutes will be spending pampering myself with some quiet time alone with yoga or tai chi.
My spiritual goal is to learn to control my mind more and really allow myself to relax in some deep meditation. I currently do not give myself the time that is needed to do all of this. My long term outlook is to meditate on a regular basis (like everyday). These meditations will allow me to focus on the serenity and peacefulness of myself. I also feel that going back to church will help increase my spiritual side. I look forward to getting back to my religious roots. Going to church is very therapeutic and I am working towards making it a weekly habit again.
I am in continual conflict with my body in the frame of physical fitness. I work hard to run with my kids on all of their activities. This is from soccer to baseball, wrestling and basketball. However, I need to work a little harder on my own personal fitness. There are a couple of things that I have started. First I am working on toning and conditioning my body. This is being done my stretching and learning yoga. The next is endurance. I have started walking every morning before work. Right now I am only walking for about 30 minutes. I would like to see this increase to about 60 minutes of brisk walking everyday. Also, to keep my body in the correct form, I have started visiting a Chiropractor. I have just started this practice but I am looking forward to the benefits of better movements and a healthier nervous system.
The next six months are going to be my test. I will look back over these goals to see what I have accomplished and what I haven’t. For the ones that I have hit the goals I will turn these up a notch. The ones that I haven’t reached I will know that I need to work harder, and maybe finding some additional help will be needed.
Tiffany, your goals are very reflective of who you are. Your focus on your personal health and spirituality are evident. I do believe that by the time you reach your final goals, you will be in better shape than many Olympians. Exercise and a focus on pampering oneself is a complementary form of self healing. I love the massage after a race. Live a Great Life.
