Okay...here we are again. What a week!!!! Mental fitness is so needed for me right now. When it rains it pours as the saying goes! First off...this is a blog so I have to say I don't know what else could go wrong! haha I find out tomorrow if I have a thyroid problem, Lyme Disease, or if there is something else going on. And on top of that...I somehow managed to sprain my wrist this weekend. Not by doing anything fun...I was cleaning the house and well lets just say I am working on a "fun" story. LOL
These events bring me to our topic for the week...2 exercises that are of help to me. First I would have to say visualization works wonders. It really helps me get into a "safe" place. I can relax and let go of all the wonders that are sitting out there. As much as guided visualizations work, I really like to take the extra time to get myself to a place on my own and visualize my "special place". Okay...I will share parts of it with you. My special place is on a deserted beach with crystal clear water. Dolphins are swimming around and I am in the water swimming and playing with them.
This brings me to my next favorite exercise. This would be animal therapy. Yesterday morning I woke up before my kids and came out to the kitchen, looked out the window and there in my back yard was 2 deer and about 5 rabbits. I bet I stood and watched them for a good 15-20 minutes. Their lives just seem to be so simple. In the house I have 2 dogs and 3 cats. The therapy they give me is so great. With everything that has been thrown at me within the past few months I have to say my little critters have managed to keep me calm and really are a huge help.
Between my kitty cat sitting on my lap and visualizing my special place with the dolphins I can get the sense to reconnect with me and somehow get the strength to carry on. It's very therapeutic and much needed. This to me is the total mental fitness.
